VineFig is currently working on their first full length studio album, featuring the original songwriting of Michael Ryan, percussion by Tom Marko, and bass by Brian Barry.  Several other friends will be contributing to this project before we are all done, including some very talented guests.

Michael has been writing original songs for over 30 years, with a catalog of over 300 songs.  Musically, Michael has been inspired by performers such as The Beatles, Nirvana, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, Damien Rice, The Smashing Pumpkins, Nine Inch Nails, and The Talking Heads. Lyrically, he is inspired by his faith, family, and the world around him.

Many of his songs reflect on topics such as suffering and hope, perseverance, and dispelling lies. Regarding his songwriting, Michael says, “I am always challenging myself to bring something unique to each new song I write. I get a kick out of it when I share a new song with my songwriting group, and someone lets out an exclamation of surprise. Sometimes it is an unexpected chord, or other times a humorous lyric. I wanna write songs that don’t bore me, and I feel like that keeps things interesting for an audience as well.”
